MEDIA CHALLENGE
TV Finally Beat RADIO!!! Congratulations to our 2008 Media Challenge winner - Paul Horton from CBS 5. The Rotary made a $500 donation to the CBS5 team for Y-Me Walk to Empower, a 24-hour breast cancer hotline for patients and their families.
Despite a valiant effort by our friends from 1100 AM KFNX, CBS 5 was able to eke out the win. Mayor Hallman (City of Tempe) managed to cut off Scott Light (Channel 12) as they rounded the bouy. Unfortunately Cory McCloskey (FOX 10) didn't make it that far... he sunk close to the starting gate, but he has pledged to build "Cory's Revenge" for the 2009 race. Look out Paul!
CBS 5 took the crown from our 2007 winner, Romey Romero (KTAR).

8th annual MEDIA CHALLENGE Presented by Sweet Tomatoes
Friday 2009
Tempe Town Lake Marina
Format: Media personalities (Print, Radio and TV) will challenge one another to a short race in pre-built cardboard boats. The race goes out from the marina boat ramp around a buoy and back. First one back wins.
Race Time: ~8:30 am (optionally an earlier heat can be scheduled in the 6 or 7 o'clock hour)
Other activities: Our cardboard boaters will be on hand to show off their boats and talk to the media about the boat building process and why they think they will win in the next day’s Rotary River Rally.
Food & Beverage: Sweet Tomatoes will be on hand with muffins, fruit and juice to help you build up the energy to win the race!!!
